The Client

Parts Score is an automotive parts business operating an e-commerce and parts-matching platform. They had an existing WordPress foundation but needed significant custom development to support their specific business model.

The Challenge

The existing platform had gaps — functionality that didn't exist in available plugins, performance issues under catalog load, and user experience problems specific to the parts-lookup workflow.

Goals
  • Build custom functionality not available through existing plugins
  • Improve platform performance under catalog load
  • Fix user experience gaps in the parts-lookup workflow
  • Maintain existing data and structure while extending capability
Process

How we built it.

Custom PHP development extended the WordPress platform with functionality built specifically for the parts-matching workflow. Performance was improved through query optimization and caching. The parts lookup experience was redesigned to reduce the number of steps between search and decision.

Outcomes

What changed.

The platform gained the custom capabilities needed for the business model without a full rebuild. Performance improvements reduced catalog load time, and the improved lookup experience shortened the path from search to inquiry.

Custom PHP development for platform-specific needs
Query optimization for catalog performance
Parts lookup UX improvements
Backward-compatible with existing data structure
York's Take
"Custom WordPress development — not theme configuration, but actual PHP work that extends the platform — is where most developers aren't comfortable. The parts-lookup workflow required building something new that had to integrate cleanly with what already existed. That kind of work requires understanding both the WordPress internals and the business problem simultaneously."
